Woodland Hill School District

On August 9th, 2022, Woodland Hills School District professional development day was hosted at Grandview Golf Course in Pittsburgh, PA included a 30-minute SEVEN session focused on creating space to take care of youth and adult mental health in schools by identifying warning signs in ourselves and the students we are responsible for.

It is just as important for adult staff in schools to be mindful of the state of our mental health to be able to act as trusted adult advocates for youth in schools. This session focused on the state of mental health for adults and youth through civil unrest, self-care, and advocacy for students.

Personal Note: Thank you to Dr. Daniel Castagna for inviting me to speak during this event. It was a unique experience to speak to administrative school staff for the school district and hear their concerns. It is a common theme that occurs in adult crowds that SEVEN or any program like it did not exist in their youth but it is even more necessary today. Thank you to all those who participated. Sorry, we went way over the 30 minute time limit.
