Day 1: Becoming a Mental Health First Aid Instructor

Good morning!

Today marks the first day of my journey of becoming an instructor for Mental Health First Aid instructor for Youth (Adults coming soon!) I wish there was a way for you to feel how I’ve felt for the past week knowing this is coming up. Like if I could connect the two of us with a USB cord, you’d feel all the nervous, excited, anxious, and overwhelming feelings of knowing you are absolutely going to accomplish a huge step towards fulfilling your purpose.

To summarize, I lost some sleep last night trying to anticipate what to expect (yes, I had a dream I woke up 2 hours late). Questions like, “how many people will be in my class?” or “What if somehow I’m not good at this?” have been spiraling through my head.

But the affirmations I’ve written down for myself this morning are:

  1. I will be an incredible, knowledgeable, instructor in Youth and Adult MHFA.

  2. I will fulfill all of my goals and dreams and achieve what is meant for me.

  3. I will successfully become an instructor in Youth and Adult MHFA and certify over 500 people within the first 3 years.

Now, the trick with affirmations is that many of these aren’t true (yet) I fully believe that I will accomplish these 3 things. These 3 silly sentences create a positive connection in my brain with ideas of self-efficacy (what I believe I can accomplish) and goal setting.

I’m cutting this one short because the class is about to start!

Love always,

Kimberly
